Barrack nr. 15, Venetian Military Arsenal
Venice, Italy

The building is one of the ancient barrack inside the Venetian Military Arsenal, as part of a series of “tese”, buildings where ships were built or recovered.

The analysed building is dated back to XVI century, but its current shape comes from different past interventions, such as the closing of the waterfront façade and the building of an internal wooden frame.

The vertical structure is made by brick masonry walls, which lay on masonry foundation with wooden piles, the roof is made with wooden trusses and beams and brick tiles.

The task involved the structural analysis of the building, including static and seismic assessment, highlighting vulnerabilities that require urgent consolidation or retrofitting interventions.
